That Sober Glow’s Grapefruit Twist on the Moscow Mule
Welcome to TUL’s guest blog series, featured every Friday. These articles serve as a platform for guests to share their personal journeys, revealing how they embrace an unwasted life. This week, we're featuring a special edition recipe by Danielle from That Sober Glow to celebrate the first full day of summer. Cheers!
I love a fun twist on a Moscow mule -
It’s a simple drink that you really can’t mess up. This one has a hint of fresh mint as well as grapefruit which always reminds me of summer.
One of my favorite things about making mocktails (aside from the fact that they taste delicious!) is they give me a creative outlet. I love experimenting with different ingredients and seeing the final results. When you mix a concoction that tastes delicious it feels like a win! I also love that we have so many fun options of things to drink without alcohol. When I was drinking, I had no idea! When filming mocktail recipes, it’s also a great reminder that perfection doesn’t exist. Things go wrong and it usually makes me laugh and makes it a fun challenge.
Hope you enjoy this one!
A Grapefruit Twist on the Moscow Mule
Handful of Mint Leaves + More for Garnish
Grapefruit Juice
Seedlip Garden*
Pinch of Salt
Ginger Beer
Serves 1
Mocktail Shaker
*If NA spirits do not align with your sobriety, feel free to skip this ingredient. It will still taste great!
Start by muddling your mint in a mocktail shaker with 1 part/shot of Seedlip. I used the Garden variety here but you could also use an NA gin or skip spirits altogether. Add 2 parts grapefruit juice and muddle a bit more if you like. Add your pinch of salt.
Next add a lot of ice, and shake up to emulsify all of the delicious flavors together. Strain your mixture over ice in your favorite glassware. Leave a bit of room to top with ginger beer. Ginger beer is always a great ‘topper’ because it adds as bit of flair and is neutral enough to pair well with most other ingredients.
Finally, (my favorite part!) add your garnish. I love mint leaves and dehydrated fruit, which you can easily make ahead of time in the oven (or air fryer if you have one).
Sip and enjoy!
